{"id":989,"date":"2015-06-12T07:55:41","date_gmt":"2015-06-12T12:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/?p=989"},"modified":"2019-05-17T13:51:53","modified_gmt":"2019-05-17T18:51:53","slug":"great-is-your-faithfulness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/2015\/06\/12\/great-is-your-faithfulness\/","title":{"rendered":"Great is Your Faithfulness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Greatisyfaith-e1434111616693.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-992\" src=\"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Greatisyfaith-1024x791.jpg\" alt=\"Greatisyfaith\" width=\"625\" height=\"483\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.belovedlove.org\/about.html\">by Lydia Floren<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I went to a funeral recently.\u00a0 A celebration, really, of a life lived walking with God.\u00a0 The service was mostly music, and during the course of an hour the 400 or so of us attendees (or should I say participants?) sang a variety of classic hymns.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t sung those words in years, yet I still knew most of the songs by heart. I guess that\u2019s what comes from occupying a Baptist pew 3 times a week\u00a0 for 18 years. \u00a0 As I sang verse after verse of those old hymns, their words \u201cfell fresh\u201d on my heart. What wisdom and encouragement those hymnists gave us!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The words of Thomas Chisholm, in his song \u201cGreat is thy faithfulness,\u201c \u00a0were particularly encouraging to my tired heart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat is thy faithfulness, O God my Father\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does \u201cfaithful\u201d mean, exactly?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFaithful\u201d is a powerful word.\u00a0 A faithful person is consistent. Steady. Loyal. Constant.\u00a0 In our corner. A faithful friend is \u201cthere\u201d for us.\u00a0 A faithful person has our back, no matter what.\u00a0 Chisholm declared God\u2019s faithfulness.\u00a0 How exactly is He faithful?<\/p>\n<p><strong>God is faithful to Himself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>No matter what, God is<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consistently loving.<\/li>\n<li>Steadily leading.<\/li>\n<li>Loyally defending.<\/li>\n<li>Constantly providing.<\/li>\n<li>Always present.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And God is always good.<\/p>\n<p><strong>God is faithful to us.<\/strong>\u00a0 Whether we are faithful back or not, and He<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consistently loves us.<\/li>\n<li>Steadily leads us.<\/li>\n<li>Loyally defends us.<\/li>\n<li>Constantly provides us.<\/li>\n<li>Is always present with us.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No matter what our circumstance, <strong>God is always faithful to Himself, and to us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And God always has our back.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great is Your Faithfulness, O God my father.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the Lord\u2019s great love we are not consumed,\u00a0for his compassions never fail.
