{"id":445,"date":"2014-08-22T19:51:35","date_gmt":"2014-08-22T19:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/?p=445"},"modified":"2018-08-29T15:22:42","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T20:22:42","slug":"pushing-reset-button","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/2014\/08\/22\/pushing-reset-button\/","title":{"rendered":"Pushing the Reset Button Again and Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/043.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/043-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"reset button\" width=\"625\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/043-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/043-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>by Lydia Floren<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Reminders are funny things.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When I first stick that sticky note on my mirror, or the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.belovedlove.org\/store.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bracelet<\/a> on my arm, it grabs my attention every time I see it, and does its job &#8211; it reminds me. \u00a0But just like anything, once a reminder has been there a few days, it becomes part of the landscape &#8211; I don\u2019t even seem to notice it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That \u201cR\u201d drawn on my hand indicating a <a title=\"Pushing the RESET button\u2013Donuts and Do-Overs\" href=\"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/2014\/01\/04\/pushing-the-reset-button-donuts-and-do-overs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201creset button\u201d<\/a> has been different.\u00a0 Because it fades over time, I have to keep drawing it on my hand, and when I do, I remember why I am doing it.\u00a0 Because my mind wanders (I know this surprises you) I have thought of several other things that \u201cR\u201d can stand for, each reminding me to reset in some way:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Renew: my outlook on life, and be renewed by God\u2019s grace.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Receive: God\u2019s presence, His grace, His acceptance, His gifts, His provision, His fruit, His friendship. His guidance, wisdom, strength, appreciation, delight, love.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Refocus: on Jesus, on what is important in life, on my God-given priorities and goals.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Receive: God\u2019s all-embracing love every day.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Re-experience: God\u2019s forgiveness, His gift of freedom from condemnation.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Remember: my identity, value, belonging, calling.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Release: from guilt, condemnation, the past, my destructive thought patterns and actions.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Rejoice: in God\u2019s love for me, in His trustworthiness, His care, His wisdom, His communication, His direction.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Resume: walking with Him.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Restart, rest, refresh, reengage, regroup, reassess, re-plan, revise &#8211; you get the idea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Receive <\/strong> is a big one today.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Thank you, Father, for the ability to <strong>receive:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Your delight with me, your tender care, your wisdom, your perspective, your insights, your acceptance, your grace.<\/li>\n<li>Your <a title=\"Fruit of the Month\" href=\"http:\/\/belovedlove.org\/reflections\/2014\/01\/30\/fruit-of-the-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spirit-gifts:<\/a> love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.<\/li>\n<li>Your love: patient, kind, humble, forgiving and forgetting of wrongs, strong, faith-filled and faithful, uncondemning, hopeful, enduring, never-failing.<\/li>\n<li>Your presence: within me, restoring my soul.<\/li>\n<li>Your embrace: including me, giving me a place and a purpose, helping me to discover, enjoy and share the many gifts you have given me.<\/li>\n<li>Your calling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you for the ability to be able to <strong>receive<\/strong> Your calling for me to love others in the same way I love myself. Thank you for the privilege of giving, sharing, loving those around me, and the amazing sense of fulfillment and blessing that results from that, much of the time.
