Death is usually something people try not to think about. But this year of the COVID pandemic, life seems much more fragile. The real possibility of contracting and dying from COVID is something we can’t ignore. and with that reality come questions we can’t ignore either, such as “Has my life mattered?” Be encouraged. It all matters. We each make a difference in this world every day.
a conversation with myself
I was thinking about death the other day, and had this conversation with myself (don’t judge. You talk to yourself too!):
–What if I got Covid and die?
–Wait wait wait. It’s not my time yet is it? I’m not sure I’m ready to die!!!!
–Yeah, but what if I did? Would my life have mattered? Would I have done what I was supposed to do in this life? Would I have made a difference?
(Gracious! I’ve been a believer for a long time. But it amazed me how quickly I can lose perspective! Do you ever feel like that? )
The truth is, my life matters. Yours does too.
The truth is, my life matters. Yours does too. The truth is, every time we touch another soul we make a difference. It may be a compliment, or a smile or words of truth and hope. Or just a cup of cold water. It all matters, more than we will ever know this side of eternity.
Recently my friend Courtney sent me a link to an old song that puts all of this in perspective.
Remember, every act of love has eternal consequences. We each make a difference.
Take the time today to remind someone that their life matters.
What ways have others made a difference in your life? Please share your experience with us! We would love to hear from you.
