When I walk on the beach, I love to look for shells. But I also like to take pictures and enjoy the scenery around me. So part of the time when I am walking, I’m looking just a few feet ahead, searching for just the right shell add to my collection (or give away). The rest of the time I’m look up and out, enjoying the beauty of sand and sea and sky. When I am concentrating on the 5 feet in front of me, everything at a distance is just a blur. And when I gaze over the seascape, I can’t see the small things at my feet.
At any one time, our attention is captured either by the here and now, or by something far off in the distance. If we always focus on the present, we never get a sense of God’s sweeping movement in our lives and in the world. Conversely, if we look entirely on the future (or the past) we miss out on the blessings right in front of us. Blessings like a baby’s laugh, a kite fluttering in the breeze, the fragrance of a flower.
Thankfully, God’s perspective isn’t limited the way ours is. He can clearly see both near and far simultaneously. He notices (and cares) about the minutest details. And at the very same time He sees of how these small bits fit into the grand mosaic of our lives.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28.

It’s good to live in the moment! To capture what god wants us to see at that time. He wants us aware of all the beauty and goodness that surrounds us. Refection is good, toO, If we focus on Him and all His gloRy. He gives us peace In those moments with hIm.
